*EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) is a specialized therapy that is highly effective to alleviate the distress associated with any traumatic memory. It was originally developed by Francine Shapiro in 1987. EMDR uses external stimulation such as eye movements, hand tapping, audio and/or tactile stimulation to diminish the emotional and physical response when remembering a traumatic memory. Clients will often notice results within 1 - 3 therapy sessions. Repeated control studies have shown that a single traumatic memory can be processed within 3 sessions in 80-90% of the participants.
